International Applicants

Applicants who are not U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens must meet the following qualifications below in order to apply. The CIAML is authorized by the department of homeland security to sponsor applicants in obtaining M-1 and F-1 visas. Please contact the admissions office for assistance in applying through the school.

English Proficiency

International students must demonstrate competence in English language by one of the following standards: graduation from a secondary or postsecondary institution whose primary language of instruction was English or an equivalent level of English as a Second Language (ESL) program, or proof of successful completion of a minimum of two quarters of postsecondary coursework at an accredited institution in which English was the language of the instruction. Contact the Admissions Director (admission@culinaryinstitute.edu) for ESL programs in Houston.

Financial Resources

Applicants must demonstrate financial resources necessary to cover the cost of attendance. You will need to submit an official bank statement documenting these resources.  If funding is to be provided by a sponsor, the bank statement must be accompanied by a letter in which the sponsor pledges his or her financial support. This official bank statement will have to be provided to your local US Embassy or US Consulate during your visa application.

Scholarships are available to international students who qualify and they are limited in number. To request a scholarship application, please contact the Financial Aid Director at financialaid@ciaml.com.

A deposit of 25% of the total tuition is required by CIAML at least one month prior to the start of the program (refundable if you do not attend the program).

Obtain a Visa

The diploma program requires international students to have an M-1 visa. While attending school, M-1 students cannot work or be paid for employment. Students can take advantage of unpaid internships to gain experience.

International students enrolling in the associate degree program are required to have a F-1 student visa.

* All submitted documents must include a copy of the original and a certified English translation for non English speaking countries. Please contact the nearest US Consulate to obtain a list of certified translators.
